Allergy Friendly Friday

(TGIAFF)

I’m back in LA, slammed with work, spending all my time in the kitchen. This isn’t a bad thing, so long as I’m not using the oven, which heated to 450 on a 95 degree day is a bit of a bummer. I prefer to keep my head in the fridge.

My kids are having a different kind of August. They are at surf camp in Malibu every day. I wish I were still a kid sometimes.

I’m thrilled to see all these new entries on Allergy Friendly Friday!  I think the word is finally getting around that we’re building an allergy-free blogger community here! If I did up an Allergy Friendly Friday badge, would you put it on your site?

A few select highlights from last week’s Allergy Friendly Friday were:

Some of you are still forgetting to link up, and so sadly, I couldn’t feature you (hint, hint, Graham Crackers, Nectarine Chips!) PLEASE remember you have to link back from your post, for me to feature your recipe! WITH A HYPERLINK THAT LINKS BACK HERE!  Please add your links for this week. Please link back to this post so you can share both your own and other’s fabulous allergy-friendly recipes. And remember, I specialize in creating gluten-free recipes that are free of the top 8 food allergens, but yours don’t have to be. They just have to be allergy-friendly in SOME way.

ALLERGY-FRIENDLY FRIDAY LINK GUIDELINES:  PLEASE READ!

  • Please add only ONE post per blog.
  • Please LINK back to this post so that your readers can find ALL the recipes linked to here. This is a sharing page.
  • Link to your individual recipe post, NOT your homepage.
  • Recipes DO NOT have to be completely allergen-free, just ALLERGY-FRIENDLY in some way.
  • When you link, let us know who you are. For example, I might add Allergy Free Protein Smoothie (cybele @cybelepascal.com)

Thanks so much for hosting and thank you for highlighting my Peach Ice Cream from last week, I am honored. I shared a nourishing Chocolate Elderberry Fudge (w/ dairy free option – use coconut oil) recipe. It’s so easy to make and so delicious. Thanks so much again. With Gratitude, Emily

    Hi Cybele!
Great picture!!! I am really missing California at the moment, looking at that wonderful photo. 🙂 These recipes look fantastic… I do have a quick question for you. Loving making all of your wonderful fresh fruit pies, galettes and crisps this summer (yum!). Since we can have eggs, I thought I would try making your pie crust by adding an egg instead of using egg replacer. Have you tried this? If so, should I add one egg or two? I can’t wait for your new book! Alex says “hi”! Thank you for all you do…
    All my best,
    Mary

Thanks for the Lentil Salad recipe Vicky. I have a bag of french green lentils sitting on my shelf that’s been calling my name, so now I know what I’m doing with them.

  9. Toothsome smoothies, salads, pickles, breads, desserts! Whoever said a gluten-free, casein-free, soy-free, egg-free (GFCFSFEF) diet couldn’t be so? Whoever said so must not have visited http://www.cybelepascal.com !

Cybele, i just received your allergen free baking book and see that your bread flour mix uses millet flour. Does rice work too? I have so many flours already i would like to avoid purchasing one more if possible. Your recipes look amazing and i cannot wait to start baking. Thank you!

  11. The hyperlink is on the nectarine chips, I put it on last week. It’s posted on the very bottom of the blog post. Have a great weekend!

There are sooo many great looking recipes linked up last week. I can’t wait to try them all out. Thanks for this great outlet for such a nice variety of recipes. Like you, it’s relieving to have a community where people strive to cook without the top 8 allergens.

    Thanks again!

  13. Hi Junia:

The link from the thumbnail of your nectarine crisps isn’t linking to your blog post, so I wasn’t able to see it! It’s linked back to my site, for some reason. Try clicking on your thumbnail from last week and you’ll see what I mean. Do you want to add it again this week and link it to your post? I’m sure you added the link from the bottom of your post back to mine, but I haven’t been able to see your recipe yet. What is the url?

    Thanks!

    Cybele

  14. Hi Mary:

Nice to hear from you. Come out and visit! RE: pie crust, I don’t know since i never make it with eggs. I wouldn’t do more than 2…. are you doing a double crust or single?

    Hi to Alex!

  15. Hey, Paul! Thanks for the support!

  16. Hi Marie:

No, the brown rice flour won’t work in the bread recipes in place of the millet. It’s too fine, and not fiberous enough. You could try oat flour or even amaranth though. Hope that helps. (Please note that I can’t vouch for results, tho, since all my recipes were designed and tested with the flour mixes in the book)

    all best,

    Cybele

I’d use a button on my blog!

Everything looks lovely, as usual. I’ve got a roasted cherry tomato sauce with fresh basil this week. We had insane amounts of tomatoes from our CSA last week–5 quarts’ worth of cherry tomatoes plus large tomatoes for canning!

Have a lovely week. I’m jealous of the surfing camps. Not a lot of surfing in the DC metro area.

    Hi Cybele!

We are hoping to visit in September…hooray! Thanks for the info on the eggs for the pie crust. I will try 2 for the double crust and 1 for the single and see how it goes. Your pie crusts are excellent, so not sure if the the eggs will change the flavor? Don’t want that to happen. With the humidity we have here in the summer, the crust rolls out perfectly, but it’s so dry during the fall/winter season, that it’s a bit more crumbly. Just made your single pie crust yesterday (without eggs)…YUM! I definitely don’t have to add eggs, just thought I would give it a try. 🙂

    Have a wonderful week!
    Mary

Thanks so much for highlighting my vanilla! 🙂 The link tool isn’t working of me tonight but I will try again tomorrow. 🙂

I would certainly be happy to add a your button onto my site!

Talk about slipping in my link in the nick of time! I’m way behind this week. I’m sharing a lemon-basil grilled chicken. We used this recipe at a cookout recently and it was a hit with everyone. Everything a summer grilling recipe ought to be! Thanks, as always, the great recipes!
    Erin

Super late for this week, but I finally added my top 8-free, gluten free, gum-free coconut cupcakes! They were an experiment that thankfully was successful, and my little guy prefers them without icing, so that’s why they are bare. 🙂

  22. I forgot to answer your question above about if you made a button. I know I would love to post it on my blog if you made one, and I’m sure others would too. 🙂
