Allergy Friendly Friday

(TGIAFF)

I’m excited to have a lot of fun events coming up. Please see here for the fall schedule, and please come join me at any or all of them.  I’m also about to embark on a familiar journey: Single Parenting. My husband leaves Los Angeles next week for SIX MONTHS. He’s going to New York for work (he’s an actor), and I’m staying here, with my kids, so as not to pull them out of school and disrupt their life too much. I’ve been down this road before. After the birth of my second son, Monte, I single parented for 7 months. (that sucked with a toddler and a baby!) A couple of years ago, I was a single parent for over a year. There have been other stints, 3 months here, 3 months there… We always get through it, and I find myself falling into a whole new rhythm of family life.  But it’s not easy. I have so much respect for all the single parents out there.  Single parents, unite!

I am really pleased by all the new bloggers joining us here.  Welcome! And check out the amazing  links from last week!  A few highlights from last week’s Allergy Friendly Friday were:

Thanks so much for linking up so nicely last week, everyone! As always, PLEASE remember you have to link back from your post, for me to feature your recipe! WITH A HYPERLINK THAT LINKS BACK HERE!  Please add your links for this week. Please link back to this post so you can share both your own and other’s fabulous allergy-friendly recipes. And remember, I specialize in creating gluten-free recipes that are free of the top 8 food allergens, but yours don’t have to be. They just have to be allergy-friendly in SOME way.

  2. Hi Cybele,

I’ve linked up my “copycat” version of an amazing salad, Pulled Chicken Salad with Lime-Cilantro Dressing, from a local restaurant. It can be made vegan by using beans instead of chicken or just leaving the protein topping off all together.

Being a single parent must be very challenging indeed!. Best of luck to you and also to your husband in his new acting role. 🙂

    Hi Cybele–
I linked up my apricot swirl cheesecake bars but put an incorrect link in the first pic! So sorry–please delete the first one!

  4. Hi Cybele,
Thanks for featuring my double chocolate cinnamon cookies!
I hear you on being a ‘single’ parent. My husband works away for 18 days of every month. It’s hard eh, but amazing how much more organised you get as a result of having to do everything yourself! Good luck xx

  5. Thanks for featuring my pavlova! This week I linked up a Clafoutis using some yummy fall pears.

  8. As usual, there are more great recipes to check out. This week I linked up my recipe for Whole Wheat Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins that are sooo delicious! Of course, they aren’t gluten-free, but they could easily be made so by using your favorite GF flour mix.

Best wishes for single parenting! Actor, huh? I have always thought you look like (from the picture in your header) an old Carly from General Hospital. That isn’t by chance you, is it?

Hi Cybele, I’ll stop complaining because my husband is leaving for the weekend next week. Single parenting is such a challenge. I hope things go well for you.

I’m sharing a yummy seasonal dish this week, with beans and tomatoes straight from our garden. Yum!

    Thanks for hosting!

  11. Shirley, that looks amazing. Lime and cilantro are two of my most favorite flavors, so this is a “Must try”!

  12. Ricki, as always, you continue to amaze me!

  13. Hey Emma, 18 days a month is hard! But yes, I agree, I do get more organized. But I get a lot less sleep!

  14. Carolynn, you are doing some lovely baking!

  15. Michelle, no, i was never on General Hospital! But thanks for the compliment. Isn’t that actress blond? Actually, i looked, and that character seems to have been played by three different actresses over time. Vanessa Marcil is a parent at my school, however, her son is in my son’s class. So there’s a little GH overlap happening here.

  16. Erin, view it as a refresher, maybe? A couple days apart is good, i think. But there is a limit!

thanks for the lovely farm to table recipe.

    best,

    Cybele

    HI,
I shared my delicious GF coconut flour bread with a video.

  19. Cybele, No way about Vanessa Marcel!!!!!! She was always my favorite on any television show (I don’t watch soaps anymore). I always thought she was soooo beautiful. She was always the one famous person I wanted to look like…kind of creepy 🙂 That’s very cool!

I think the Carly character was probably the 1st one and I think she was kind of a dirty blond.
