Pots & Pans, oh my!

It’s been awhile since I did a giveaway, and you all deserve FREE STUFF!  Luckily, I was contacted by CSN stores to do one on here, and they are offering pretty cool FREE stuff. CSN stores have so many lovely things from cookware to dining room furniture to bedding. It was pretty hard to choose what to giveaway because there were so many great options! So I decided to let the winner choose their goodies themselves. One lucky reader will win a $40 gift certificate good at any of their stores.  They have 200+ online stores that sell just about anything you could want or need.

For example, you could buy a pot or pan from their site www.allpotracks.com. The following items are all less than $40!

My absolute favorite pot is my red enameled 8 qt Le Crueset pot that I make chicken and roasts and all sorts of everything in. I use it on the stove and in the oven both. They’re pricey. It took me 5 years of drooling before I bought it and then gave it to myself as a Christmas present one year. Now I have to pry it away from my husband as well. And, I’m in love with my mini-muffin pan because I don’t have three boys to feed so I can eat three muffins all by my lonesome and not feel like a total pig. However, I really, really need to win this so I can make your baked donuts in a donut pan! I thought about using my muffin top pan too, but it’s just not the same is it?

My favourite pot or pan right now is completely unusable to me. All of them are. I was using some cheap teflon ones and they are all gluten-contaminated. I desperately need to order some new ones as I was just diagnosed!

  3. Jenny says:

My favorite pot is the sauce pan my grandmother gave me. I use it all the time, actually used it last night to make her gravy and meatballs. Every time I use that and the chef knives she gave me, it just brings back so many great memories of cooking with her.
I’ve been on this site for about an hour now looking around and making a mental list of everything I want ha ha ha this could be very dangerous.

    my favorite pan is a cast iron pan my husband and i got at a flea market, i think before we were married in 1983. we used to scour the flea markets and got many cool items, the two best being a juice o matic, juicer, hand operated, i use it every week for the past 27 years, and my cast iron pot that has been used for everything;
roasting seeds, sauteing, nishimi style veggies, risotto, frying and deep frying, etc. etc.
anyone who can come up with a pan like that is a winner and they made me a winner in the kitchen!
    thanks

I love my cast iron skillets… all shapes and sizes… they are even great for taking camping and cooking over hot coals…

  9. Sassysarah says:

I enjoy cooking . The one thing I like about non-stick pans is the less oil or butter you have to add to the things cooked in them.

My favorite cooking pot is an oval Le Creuset pot, the shape is perfect to cook about anything and the top is even hollow so I can put ice cubes in it and get more steam. I got it 25 years ago and it still works great.

  12. Sarah says:

I am getting married next year and doing lots of research on pots and pans that I will need to feed my new family. So many different kinds! As long as I can make mac n’ cheese (allergy free of course) or chocolate frosting in it, I’m good to go! Sadly, I can’t take my mother’s with me. There is some debate about toxin levels within the different types of cookware. I wonder how valid any of that is…

  13. Anaquita says:

The best pots I’ve ever used were the ones with copper lined bottoms (on the outside) They cooked beautifully. My ex, unfortunately, sold them on me for a few extra dollars when I wasn’t looking. Someday I’ll replace them. However what I need right now is either a griddle (which I don’t have) for a few recipes that just don’t work right in my frying pan. Or a hanging pot rack, as The kitchen I have is small, with not much storage space.

My favorite pans are a set that I got from my hubby. Love the nonstick!

  16. Sarah H says:

It’s a tie in my favorite pan contest. Either my great-grandmother’s saucepan she made chocolate gravy with (I’m still working on an allergy-free version) or my iron skillet. There’s nothing like cornbread made in it, and I’m so glad my 1 year old son was able to try it for the first time this week(without the top allergens of course).

  17. Jennifer says:

My favorite pot is my crock pot! I use it all the time to make all sorts of great things. I am in desperate need of some new pots and pans as the set that I have were a wedding gift…13 years ago. They have served us well but need replacing for sure.

  18. admin says:

loving all your pot comments so far! I’m happy to see so many of you are as attached to pots passed down to you as I am! I have pots from all sorts of ancestors/relations.

  19. Nothing beats cast iron. I am avoiding aluminum and non-stick surfaces because I don’t want that in my food. I am trying to replace all my cookware now with glass and cast iron.

  20. Theo says:

My favorite is our family’s round French Le Creuset pot in cherry. It cooks beautifully and efficiently and I’ve had it for 5 years now! 🙂

I have a few pans that I love… I inherited a baking set of pyrex from my grandmother. They are the best for making breads and cakes!

  24. Penny says:

I really want some cast iron cornbread pans so that I can properly make your cornbread sticks recipe. 😉 Please enter me in the drawing.

My favourite is a saute pan by Kitchen Aid. It is heavy, stainless steel and can go from stove top to oven.

  28. K. A. Mello says:

I still use my old reliable Revere Stainless Steel Copper Bottom pans and my Faberware Aluminum Clad Stainless Steel frying pans; they’re over twenty years old! However, my dream is to purchase the type of pans I see the great cooks I watch on PBS use, like Le Creuset, All-Clad, Calphalon. Thanks!

  29. Traci says:

My favorite pot is my wok pan. Its the perfect size for me to whip up a variety of dishes from stir fry to a simple scrambled egg. It heats up quick and retains the heat as well.

  30. Deanna Davidson says:

My parents gifted us a set of All-Clad pots and pans as a wedding present. I treasure them and plan to use them my whole life, just as my mom still uses her wedding set and my grandmother used her wedding Revereware until her death. We cook nearly everything from scratch, so they get a workout. And my two toddlers also unpack the cupboards daily, so they have a second life as favorite toys.

Hmm, somethign about pots or pans? The only thing I can think of is to tell you that my toddler played with a pot, and a big spoon, all day today!

A thought about pots….. the current pot obsession in my house is “pot lid cymbals” that my twin 2 yr old boys (allergic to dairy, egg, peanut and soy) play lovely music on while I cook dinner. Noisy, but beautiful!

  35. I have scanpans and I love them. They are so easy to clean and cook with and the company replaces them if there is something wrong with it plus they are not teflon!

I find it difficult to find exactly the “right” pots and pans when I’m out shopping. If you buy from department stores, you can’t really get expert advice, and living in a small town, we don’t have any kitchen utility stores here! Mostly I have to do my shopping online, but whenever I do make the right selection, it’s well worth it because I use them in the kitchen a lot!

    Hello Cybele!
Remember me? Katrina’s daughter, Noa’s niece?
I love your blog and cookbooks so much, my daughter is allergic to wheat, dairy and gluten so your recipes have been a godsend!
My favorite pot is my cast iron pan, good for everything from baking cornbread to cooking veggies. I will mention your contest on my blog as well!

I just learned how to use a double boiler and I think it’s awesome! I make a mean chili (using a dutch oven) and had to re-heat it for friends. I was told to use a double boiler because it would heat up the chili without burning it. It worked perfectly. There’s a pot with water on the stove, and a pot for the chili (or whatever) on top of the pot. The stove heats up the water, the water heats up the chili. mmmmchili.
