Allergy Friendly Friday

(TGIAFF)

The highlight of the past week has been seeing new bloggers appear here at Allergy Friendly Friday, and visiting your sites.  I am thrilled to be introduced to all these new blogs!  I really encourage you all to click through the links as much as possible, because you’ll find a lot of people doing really cutting edge work in their kitchens (and on their farms!).   I lived on a small organic farm until I was 10, and it formed my predelection, at a young age, for fresh produce above all else. I later went to a farm school in Putney, Vermont where the students all worked the farm.  It was the single most important part of my teens, and is certainly the source of my work ethic today. See the pic above of students at Putney, collecting fresh eggs. My father still has a small farm in Western Massachussets, and I hope that even our brief visits there are helping to give my sons an appreciation for farm to table foods.  Kudos to you all who are farming your own food. Your kids will thank you!

Thanks for all the great links on last week’s Allergy Friendly Friday. A few select highlights from last week’s Allergy Friendly Friday were:

As always, PLEASE remember you have to link back from your post, for me to feature your recipe! WITH A HYPERLINK THAT LINKS BACK HERE!  Please add your links for this week. Please link back to this post so you can share both your own and other’s fabulous allergy-friendly recipes. And remember, I specialize in creating gluten-free recipes that are free of the top 8 food allergens, but yours don’t have to be. They just have to be allergy-friendly in SOME way.

Thanks so much for hosting! I love the farm picture, such a great experience for kids. I shared a Creamy Watermelon Ice Cream recipe (w/ dairy-free option, it’s also GF, egg free, nut free and refined sugar free). It’s so refreshing on a hot summer day and oh so yummy! Thanks again :)

Thank you for picking my recipe to be featured(!), though I have to share the credit with Emily from Recipes to Nourish, as her recipe was my inspiration! This week I’ve posted my Rosemary Balsamic Steak Marinade. Have a wonderful weekend!

It must have been lovely to grow up on a farm! We used to bed and breakfast in the Summer at farms in the SW of England when I was a child and I have fond memories of those Summers! Have a lovely weekend!

Awww, thanks for picking my post as one of your featured recipes! This week I’m sharing a recipe for my homemade coconut milk, and as a bonus, within that post I have 2 links for two other homemade milk recipes- sesame milk and chickpea milk, two other things that can work for people with allergies.

Cybele, I absolutely LOVE your allergen free baking book- its been a saviour for me. I am on an elimination diet due to my 4.5mo old son not tolerating many foods at all. I think he is reacting to sorghum flour now. Is there anything you would recommend as a subsititue? How about as substitutes for the oat and barly flour in your whole foods cookbook as I know that both oats and barley failed miserably for him. Thank you for providing such great recipes for all of us food challenged folks.

Hi Cybele, thanks so much for featuring my breakfast sausage. It’s a family favorite. This week I’m sharing a Quinoa and Roasted Garlic, Tomato, and Basil recipe that was a recent success at the dinner table.
